Thanks to Ernie's Towing for providing us with vehicles to train with this past week. Our rookies, plus a student shadowing us for the day, got to learn how to operate the jaws and see how quickly and smoothly we can rescue a victim trapped in a vehicle. Snowy Rollover
Poor road conditions caused this driver to slide of the road into a ditch. She was able to extricate herself and was transported with LifeCare to confirm no serious injuries.
Farewell Chief Brown
Today Fire Chief Tom Brown's ends a long career at the Lorain Fire Department. We wish him the best during his retirement and as he takes the position of Director of the Port Authority.
New rookies
This week we welcome five new probationary firefighters to the Lorain Fire Department. We're excited to start strengthening our manpower as well as making these men the firefighters this city has long depended on.

Yesterday we hosted an afternoon of training with two members of City Council and the Safety Director. We invited the Mayor, and all of city council, but unfortunately the turnout was smaller than we hoped. But the training was successful, and it was encouraging to have them walk around in our boots for a couple hours. The Morning Journal and Chronicle reporters both had an eye-opening experience as well and wrote good stories on the training.
